DESIGN process

Whether for a wedding or engagement ring, a unique piece of jewelry for yourself or a loved one, we would be happy to work with you. Read below for more information about the process of making your design or ideas come to life.

When you reach out to us, we will set up a time to talk over the phone and/or schedule an in-person consultation at the Metal Sugar Showroom in Savannah, GA.

We will go over all of your thoughts, ideas, and inspirations as we start to put your unique project together.

Each piece of jewelry is handmade by Melissa Cohen in her studio in Savannah, Georgia.

THE PROCESS

During our initial consultation, we will go through all of your thoughts, ideas, and inspirations. Have sketches and pictures that will help to show your vision? We want to see them! We will discuss metals, stones, and design options as well as budget and timeline on the project.

After the initial consultation, you'll expect to receive an email with detailed meeting notes. From there, the design phase begins! We will sketch out a design/designs for you and send for your review. We will lay out all the details of the project, talk to you about a solid timeline, and answer any and all questions you may have. Once you are comfortable with the specs of the project and are ready to get started, we will get to work right away on bringing your vision to reality.

Once the project is underway, you will hear from us with updates and photos, when applicable. You can always reach out to us, at any point during the process, with questions or comments.

Working with an independent designer should be personal and enjoyable. You will feel informed and involved every step of the way. We want you to ask questions and feel like you know exactly what is going on and how long things will take. We want to explain the differences in metals and gemstones and what makes one better for a project than another. We want you to feel excited about this special piece and that you’re getting “white glove” service.
